Job Description:
The Patient Accounting Associate is responsible for assisting department staff by doing a wide variety of routine clerical tasks and works in collaboration with others to complete daily tasks and offer support to the Patient Accounting team as needed.
They will maintain efficient operations and assist with projects.
Responsibilities:
Effectively maintains a high level of organization throughout the department, ensuring that filing is maintained on a daily basis.
Reviews daily correspondence and distributes appropriately.
Consistently ensures that all needed supplies are stocked for the Patient Accounting and General Accounting departments and ensures that supplies are organized in the designated supply storage area.
Effectively ships UPS packages on a daily basis and submits transmittal forms for processing.
Effectively enters all outpatient prescreening accounts into the computerized system upon completion of the insurance verification process.
Effectively admits the Costa Mesa outpatient visits and ensure proper bed assignment in the timely manner, provides back up to Cerritos as needed.
Completes any subpoena request ensuring payment, and records are released per the company's HIPPA policy.
Provides timely and accurate billing for all assigned AR.
Effectively performs additional duties and responsibilities as position requires.
Required Skills:
6 months' experience in healthcare industry and/or completion of medical billing courses.
Task organization and attention to detail; strong verbal skills.
Basic bookkeeping, 10 key calculator and knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and the Internet.
General understanding of coding of insurance companies and checking financial classes.
