Santa Fe Springs, CA Santa Fe Springs, CA Full-time Full-time $90,000 - $130,000 a year $90,000 - $130,000 a year Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to provide necessary systems and administrative support to meet or exceed Environmental Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
Actively participates and leads the organization in expanding and improving the effectiveness of the EHS Management and Quality Systems.
Will provide support in developing and implementing programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.
Takes a lead role in developing and maintaining a work environment that fosters employee participation and performance according to Heraeus standards.
Is responsible for ensuring the organizations compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances as they pertain to environmental affairs.
Maintain a focus on health & safety, regulatory integrity, operational excellence and quality aspects, providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as required):
Develops, implements and coordinates programs and procedures on matters involving air, water and hazardous waste treatment that are of concern to the organization and the public.
Works with regulatory agencies and (where necessary) outside specialists to assure constant compliance of the division with all applicable laws and regulations.
Coordinates all related governmental interactions and compliance activities and represents the company in meetings with and/or audits by regulatory agencies.
Advises production and technology management and staff on the practical and necessary steps to assure processes and equipment meet the standards set forth by the law and minimize exposure to fellow employees, the public or the environment.
Supervises and coordinates training throughout the organization that covers the legal requirements and assures that all employees are adequately trained to perform their job in a way that is safe to themselves, their coworkers and the public.
Assures that all record keeping pertaining to compliance and training meets the legal requirements and established policies.
Keeps informed about changes in laws and regulations and informs management about their impact.
Supervises and actively contributes to the development, implementation and upkeep of operational control systems that help the company effectively control its processes throughout all departments and meet all Heraeus, customer and legal requirements.
Assures adequate documentation control in support of the HPS-EHS Management Systems and these are kept and are easily accessible.
Oversees the administration of all QEHS documents including the updating of electronic/paper files and the updating of related databases.
Oversees the administration of the environmental internal auditing programs to include conducting internal and external audits.
Performs audits as needed.
Reviews EHS performance trends based on Enhesa regulatory matrix and Intelex requirements and participates in the generation and implementation of continual improvement projects, leads and maintains compliance with the Integrated Management ISO system.
Interacts with customers and ensures HPMN's compliance with agreed upon customer and regulatory requirements.
Acts as a technical resource for external and internal customer requirements and issues.
Investigates, performs root cause analysis and ensures effective closure of corrective actions as they relate to the EHS and Customer Quality matters.
Provides necessary support to all departments in closing out internal corrective actions in order to continually improve processes as they relate to environmental, health & safety and Quality aspects.
Manages time and attendance issues for department employees.
Responsible for employer relations and conducting investigations.
Oversees the safe operation and conduct of the assigned team members.
Will oversee provisions for training and training documentation.
Hazardous Material Risk Assessment and Hygiene Monitoring Plan organize and direct work to provide environmental compliance services and documentation.
Manage environment permitting, compliances and mitigation.
Interpret permits and other documents as well as develop compliance assurance plans and inspection procedures.
Represents the company's interests on various industry and governmental committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance and servicing of the devices, machinery and equipment in the department pursuant to the legal regulations in force, Responsible for timely communication of information to the Director of Compliance & Support Services or his designee regarding any planned changes and new investments (as relevant under environmental or occupational protection aspects), Responsible for the operation of the plants and the protection of the staff pursuant to the regulations and obligations in force, Responsible for orderly recruitment, control and training of subordinates, Responsible for coordinating all activity related to fire protection, Responsible for coordinating with Safety for all employee medical concerns, Responsible for developing, communicating, and training of operational and working instructions, Responsible for immediate notification of any deviations from the operation in accordance with the regulations and of any industrial accidents to the Director of Compliance & Support Services or his designee, Responsible for the security of Precious Metals and adherence to the company precious metal guidelines.
Reports any breach in security or missing metals immediately to the Director of Compliance & Support Services or his designee, The immediate notification of the responsible Director of Compliance & Support Services or Site Manager in Santa Fe Springs regarding any Human Resources, Quality, Regulatory or Financial issues, Responsible for complying to the company code of conduct and for reporting any deviations to any of the company Compliance Officers, Responsible for adhering to and enforcing the US Heraeus Handbook and the local Site Employee Handbook.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
